A creative programme about the built environment for 14-18 year olds
In the second phase of the Academy, Group 1 were handed the task of redesigning St Helens town centre.
They realised that the St Helens city centre was designed mostly for car access – which can be a problem both in terms of accessibility and pollution.
They redesigned the bus stops for a new, central bus station based on the land of one of the many car parks in the city centre area. Additionally, they repurposed one of the office blocks in the area to provide low-cost sustainable housing for those on the poverty line, homeless, students, families, and refugees.
