RUNCORN
In the second phase of the Academy, Group 4 were looking at a regeneration of Runcorn town centre.
THE CHALLENGE
After research, Group 4 realised that Runcorn suffered from high unemployment, had a dated looking town centre with poor transprot infrastructure to other parts of Runcorn, a lack of shops, and an ageing target audience.
THE SOLUTION
Group 4’s solutions were aimed at improving the area in general by giving the people of Runcorn a reason to interact with their area as a whole. They did this with not just a comprehensive design for some sustainable waterfront housing, but also a series of interventions for new town squares and other public spaces, including a new bus station.
